Gain a comprehensive understanding of the intervention process and how it works.

Stage 1.

When you reach out for help, our compassionate staff are ready to listen and understand your needs. This first point of contact is crucial in setting the stage for effective intervention. Our goal is to ensure a safe environment and dispatch our mobile crisis team right away.

How it Works:

  • Availability: Our helpline is open around the clock to ensure you can reach us anytime you need.

  • Listening: Our compassionate staff listen carefully to your concerns and symptoms, providing a safe and confidential space for you to express yourself.

  • Information Gathering: We collect important details about the nature of the crisis so that we can tailor our response accordingly.

Benefits:

  • Immediate Support: You receive prompt emotional support, which can help alleviate feelings of isolation and distress.

  • Tailored Response: The details gathered helps us prepare the response team and most appropriate resources for your needs.

  • Safety and Trust: Establishing a connection early on fosters trust and ensures your safety from the outset.

Stage 2.

Once we finish the screening stage we quickly dispatch our crisis response team to your location and stay on the phone with you until they arrive. Our crisis response team includes individuals with lived experience and on-call licensed clinicians who are trained to respond promptly and compassionately, ensuring you receive the necessary help as soon as possible.

How it Works:

  • Rapid Deployment: Our team is dispatched immediately to your location.

  • Coordination: We coordinate with local emergency services if additional support is required.

  • Staying Connected: We stay on the phone with you, providing continuous support and updates while coordinating with the crisis response team en route to your location.

Benefits:

  • Quick Response: Immediate response in crisis situations is crucial for de-escalating emergencies, providing urgent care, and preventing further harm.

  • Comprehensive Care: Coordination with other services ensures a comprehensive approach to your crisis.

  • Continuous Support: Keeping the call active until the team arrives helps you remain calm and reassured, knowing help is actively on its way and you are not alone.

Stage 3.

Once we arrive on scene we conduct a brief, face-to-face crisis assessment to evaluate your current situation, reduce immediate risks, and plan for short-term stability. This includes gathering information on the causes of the crisis, safety risks, strengths and resources, medical history, and the need for coordination with emergency services. The assessment is sensitive to the diverse cultural and individual needs of the person, including those from tribal communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities or limited English proficiency.

How it Works:

  • Evaluation: We use personalized assessment strategies to ensure we gain a thorough understanding of your unique situation, allowing for tailored and effective stabilization.

  • Observation: We pay close attention to both verbal and non-verbal cues, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of your situation.

  • Communication: We practice active listening, validate feelings, and respect your personal space throughout the assessment.

Benefits:

  • Needs Diagnosis: A personalized assessment ensures an accurate understanding of your needs.

  • Personalized Care: By attending to both verbal and non-verbal communication, the team can address underlying issues that may not be immediately apparent.

  • Safety: The respectful and empathetic approach helps build trust and rapport, creating a safe environment for you to express your needs and begin the healing process.

Stage 4.

As we work on stabilizing the situation we may use different de-escalation techniques to calm emotional or behavioral distress, provide necessary medical attention to address any urgent physical health concerns, and offer emotional support. Using a person-centered, strength-based, resolution-focused, and empathetic approach, our goal is to address the urgent issues swiftly and create a supportive environment, setting the stage for the healing process to begin.

How it Works:

  • De-escalation: We use calming techniques such as positive reinforcement, guided breathing, and grounding to reduce immediate stress and anxiety.

  • Medical Attention: If needed, we coordinate necessary medical care to address urgent physical health needs.

  • Support: We offer emotional support and practical assistance such as problem solving together and empowerment to help stabilize the situation.

Benefits:

  • Crisis Stabilization: Swift intervention helps avoid more drastic measures by addressing crises promptly and effectively, ensuring safer outcomes for individuals in need.

  • Holistic Care: Addressing both emotional and physical needs ensures comprehensive support.

  • Beginning Recovery: De-escalating a crisis enables individuals to regain control and initiate essential steps towards healing and resilience.

Stage 5.

Once the immediate crisis is addressed, we’ll work with you to determine the best support options for your situation. Depending on your needs, we might assist with developing a crisis prevention plan to help you prevent a future crisis from occurring. If appropriate, we could facilitate a "warm referral" by introducing you to resources like community support groups or local services for ongoing assistance. Additionally, if necessary we can provide a "hot handoff" by giving you or arranging for you a ride to those resources . Each option is tailored to ensure you receive the most effective support for your continued recovery and well-being.

How it Works:

  • Care Plan: We work with you to develop a personalized care plan that addresses your long-term needs.

  • Resource Connection: We connect you with mental health professionals, substance use treatment programs, and other community resources as appropriate to your needs.

  • Warm Referral: If needed, we personally introduce you to new providers and with your permission, ensure they are fully informed about your situation.

Benefits:

  • Continued Support: Ongoing care ensures you have the support needed to continue your recovery.

  • Resource Access: Connecting with appropriate resources helps to address all aspects of your mental health and substance use.

  • Seamless Transition: A warm referral ensures continuity of care and reduces the stress of changing providers.

Stage 6.

We understand that recovery is a journey. That’s why we make it a priority to follow up and check on your progress, offering additional support and making adjustments to your care plan, if you see fit. We’re here to listen and provide guidance, ensuring you stay on the path to recovery with confidence and strength. Your resilience inspires us, and we’re committed to supporting you through this pivotal phase of your journey.

How it Works:

  • Check-in: We conduct a follow-up call, text, or email to monitor your progress.

  • Care Plan Adjustments: Based on your progress, we’ll work with you to make any necessary adjustments to your care plan to ensure it best supports your needs.

  • Support Services: We provide extra support and connect you with additional resources if needed to ensure you have the help and tools necessary for your continued progress.

Benefits:

  • Ongoing Support: Follow up care ensures you have support and guidance through your next phase in recovery.

  • Flexibility: Adjusting your care plan ensures it remains relevant and effective as your needs change.

  • Encouragement: Continued support helps to keep you motivated and reassured throughout your journey to optimal health and wellbeing.

Upward and Onward

Now that you know the steps of intervention, we hope you see how each stage is crucial in delivering real, effective support. By addressing immediate needs, ensuring safety, and setting the stage for lasting recovery, we help individuals regain stability and well-being. This, in turn, reduces the burden on the already overwhelmed 911 services (EMS & Law Enforcement), promotes safer environments, and fosters a stronger, more resilient community.
